“Eddie, Ricky” – 5/25/22

 I don’t personally think RG’s jokes about Miss Eddie Izzard & the trans community in general really deserve a response. Honestly they weren’t even clever. It’s the same stupid retired joke of “How can you be a woman and have that particular genitalia?” – cheap jokes to get cheap laughs and clicks online. Seriously? That’s the ONE thing you can comment on? 

“Oh she’s got an 🍆 , isn’t that FUNNY”- grow up.

The only thing funny is that that’s the best you’ve got.  

RG later goes on to prove his own ignorance on this subject later on in his special; “Let’s stop asking the average person. Do you know how stupid the average person is?” 

Yes, we do. And I’m sorry to say RG, you are an average person when it comes to this topic. If you’re going to make the point of “if you want to be all inclusive that means you should/can be able to make fun of everybody” argument – you should atleast have the knowledge or the respect to do some research on the topics YOU choose to bring up. 

This was a topic RG chose to open his special with. And he chose the bare minimum amount of info he could to make a joke about it….clearly showing he knows nothing about this topic. In the words of Miss Eddie Izzard; “BE BRAVE AND CURIOUS, NOT FEARFUL AND SUSPICIOUS”. If RG had shown some actual evidence that he knew anything about this subject I believe his jokes would have been understood a lot more. 

A good portion of his special was also dedicated to Atheism and RG’s views on God, Homosexuality & AIDS. He had loads of material on it and seemed to have an idea/goal of what he wanted to say. And no one seems to be offended by that- because with that topic he had information. He discussed at length the bible, diseases, people’s rights…it was an actual piece (not a piece everyone agrees with) but a piece. & I believe people were more receptive to it because it was clear RG had knowledge on the subject. 

If he is going to conduct that style of comedy, where it’s funny to tear everything down – he should have the same level of respect for all subjects he covers. Because that was his commentary- his 5 minute “piece” on trans women with male genitalia and bathrooms was gossip at best.
